Overnight moisture masks have been helping me to save my easily dehydrated skin since I can remember. I stick to regular night creams most nights, but once a week or if my skin is feeling particularly dehydrated/hungover/over-masked, I’ll swap it out for something a little more hardcore. The beauty of an overnight moisture mask is that they work instantly, so you see (and feel) results as soon as you wake up. Some are just glorified moisturisers, but these are the ones that I’ve tried and tested, and can confirm do go the extra mile.

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask £42

To me, there is no better fix for hungover skin - alcohol is a major dehydrator. This cushiony, creamy mask if formulated with rich ceramides, antioxidants, and vitamins to restore and replenish skin that’s looking and feeling lacklustre. You could also just use this an an under-eye mask, if your hangover's typically manifest themselves in the form of dark circles and puffy eye bags. For best results, I like to apply this when I get in from a night out (after cleansing, obviously) to prevent the hangover skin from kicking in at all.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask - £22

A time-tested favourite which I’ve been using since my early blogging days (I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve repurchased it) - this vitamin-rich mask basically acts like a green juice for your skin (and smells like one, too). After eight hours of beauty sleep you’ll wake up to skin that is visibly dewy, hydrated, and glowing. I like to apply it over a hyaluronic acid serum for better absorption that properly quenches skin’s thirst and adds a smoother, suppler texture.

Fresh Rose Face Mask £21-52

This silky gel acts like a hydrating toner in mask form, renewing skin’s tone and texture courtesy of rosewater, cucumber, aloe vera, algae extracts, and green tea. The ingredients saturate skin with moisture for an instant plumping effect, while soothing any redness and inflammation. I love this one for a quick fix because you can leave it on for just 15 minutes and still expect to see better skin post-removal.

MyClarins Recharge Relaxing Sleep Mask - £24

Coconut water in your skincare products? That’s right - the superfood drink also works wonders for skin when applied topically - especially when accompanied by ingredients like alpenrose, fig extract, and acerola fruit. This gel-cream textured mask hydrates skin while also providing additional detoxifying benefits - making it perfect for skin that’s exposed to environmental pollutants. The light texture also works well to seal in any skincare products (like serums) applied beforehand, making them more effective.

Bobbi Brown Skin Nourish Mask - £35

Rich and creamy, this classic moisture mask replenishes skin with moisture lost throughout the day while simultaneously creating the extra hydration that skin will need by morning. It’s made with muru muru butter, salicornia, green algae, and coral grass - all of which work to plump up skin and add moisture. To restore softness to your skin, look no further.

Eve Lom Moisture Mask - £65

Ideal for oily or sensitive skin since it’s so gentle, this water-based mask from Eve Lom soaks skin in a veritable cocktail of hydration heavy-hitters - think hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and vitamin E. The gel-like texture is light and cooling, and melts into skin without leaving any residue. I keep this one in the fridge to maximise on its cooling benefits - applying it feels like a cold drink of water for your face.
